What about water?

9/22/2010

After observing the relative amount of available surface fresh water on the planet, do you believe it is necessary to conserve the amount of water we use on a daily basis? (keep in mind we live in Canada and have more water than we need;)  Please explain why you believe what you do.

Math: GCF LCM

9/22/2010

As we learned in class today, we don't have to write out the factor lists for numbers and then compare them when trying to find the Greatest Common Factor of 2 numbers.
What technique could you use to find the GCF when comparing 2 numbers?  Could you give an example?  (hint: you could write an example, take a picture of your work, then post it as part of your blog if you want)

Water World

9/17/2010

Hopefully you've had a chance to think more about the current world water crisis.  I know it doesn't really hit home because Canada has so much fresh water but shouldn't we be sharing our water with other countries?  Would it be fair to charge other countries for our water if we share it?  Is water a human right or a paid privilege?  What do you think?

How do you know if a number is really prime?
