Why do people need scientific notation?  Isn't it just a waste of time?  Give a real-life example of how it is used in every day life.  What professions use this number sense tool? Why?

We need Scientific Notation because we can know our total answers and also it can help us in the future. No because it can help you what you have trouble in.

we need scientific notation because it's another way of writing a # as a decimal between any #.

mr dobbie for our homework do we have to do pg16-23. the booklets(1.3 1.4 1.5) you gave us are the same thing.

We need scientific notation because it is a way of writng a number as a decimal between 1 and 10, multiplied by a power of a #.

if you were an accountant you would need to manage huge numers of money, so you would want the number to be as small as possible. that would let you do math with smaller numbers

scientific notation isn't just a waste of time. It's used for a lot of things such as writing smaller numbers(e.g: the distance from the earth to the sun). A scientist uses scientific notation when showing calculations of larger numbers in short form.

I wold say that it's not waste of time. It's not a wate of time because it a new skill that u can learn. It's a different way of showing numbers.

No i dont think that scientific notification is a waste of time because say if you're applieng for a job and they ask you a question that requires you to find out a scientific notification then you know what to do and then you will most likely get the job approval and will be on a succesfull carrer PLEASE DO NOT ACCESS(please do not mark)

I think scientific notation is not a waste of time because your learning somthing new

Scientific notation is in fact not a waste of time. You do use it in real life.
For example: If you end up working as a cashier, then you would have to work with cents and you need to know how to do scientific notation in order to do that. Therfore, scientific notation is important & it is usefull in life.

Rubric #4
Some people need scientific notation so they can read large numbers, or smaller numbers. I don't think scientific notation is a waste of time I actually think it saves time because using scientifil notation helps people say different numbers if the number is too big or too small. In a science lab when scientists are conducting experiments sometimes their results are huge numbers or really small numbers and they can use scientific notation to help say the number. Scientists use this number sence tool so they can easily say numbers to show their results while they are conducting an experiment.

No, it is not a waste of time. People need scientific notation, because, when you are applying for a job, the more you know, the better it will be for you, to get a job, and so you will know about, incase your job has stuff to do with scientific notation.

People need to know scientific notation because it's another technique for solving a problem and it's faster to. Scientific notation is not a waste of time it actually prevents time from being wasted because it is a faster way of solving a problem or question or etc. An example of an every day life experience is when I was at school and we had to do scientific notation and I knew what to do. A profession that uses this number sense tool is a scientist because they use formula's to solve problems and to create new things. Scientific notation is like a formula and a formula helps to solve problems. These are some of the reasons that we need to know scientific notation.

Scientific notation is not a waste of time. In order for people to get jobs such as an accountant you would need to know how to do scientific notation. Scientific notation is another way of solving a problem faster and you will be able yo understand it clearly. Some people have jobs which include using big numbers, if they use scientific notation then it is a simplier way of figuring out a problem.

Rubric 3:
I think that scientific notations are really not a waste of time they are very useful in describing numbers that are to big to remember like 9346779826 if you ge tthe scientific notation you can make it shorter but still the same number!.i also think it saves time pretend your the owner of a big car shop like toyota and someone spends 246854.99 you would get the scientific notation and get it into a smaller number so you can understand better.
A real life example is: a scientist is calculating the distance for earth to mars 9854456745km you would get the notation for it and get it into smaler number it doesnt just make you do more but also helps you understand more and makes it easyer to calculate how many days for the amount of km =earth-mars.

Rubric#4 People need scientific notation because its used in everyday life so it's not just a waste of time. For example a scientist would use scientific notation to find the distance between venus and earth and then use scientific notation to shorten the number so that it makes more sense.
